Video Highlights on Youtube.com: Kevin-Prince Boateng of AC Milan Reacts To Racial Abuse
(Sporting Alert) Kevin-Prince Boateng angrily blasted the ball in the crowd and then walked off the pitch after being a victim of racial abuse during a friendly game between AC Milan and Pro Patria on Thursday.
Boateng was seen with the ball in the Pro Patria area when he suddenly picked the ball up and kicked it towards a section of the stands early in the first half.
“There were abusive chants from a section of the crowd towards several of the AC Milan players and Kevin decided that he had heard enough,” a Milan insider said on Thursday afternoon.
Boateng, evidently frustrated by the incident, removed his jersey and refused to play on.
The Ghana attacking midfielder decided on walking off the field and he was joined by the rest of his teammates, who also refused to play under such conditions.
It is also being reported that M’Baye Niang, Urby Emanuelson and Sulley Muntari were also targeted.
“We are disappointed and saddened by what has happened,” Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri told reporters.
“Milan play for the right to respect all players. We need to stop these uncivilised gestures.
“We are sorry for all the other fans who came here for a beautiful day of sport.
“We promise to return, and we are sorry for the club and players of Pro Patria, but we could not make any other decision.
“I hope it can be an important signal.”
The Pro Patria public address announcer made appeal to stand to stop the chants, but that only fell on deaf eyes.
