OYEM, Gabon -- African Cup of Nations 2017 continues on Friday with two more games in Group C, as the battle for quarter-final places remain the focal point. Follow live scores on www.livescores.com.
The highlighted game of the day will see Cup holders Ivory Coast taking on group leaders DR Congo hoping to improve on the performance from the opening game.
The Ivorians failed to breakdown Togo in a frustrating 0-0 draw on Monday, while DR Congo opened their African Cup of Nations 2017 campaign with a 1-0 victory over Morocco.
Ivory Coast coach Michel Dussuyer admitted that his team didn't play well enough to secure all three points against Togo, but hopes for a better performance against the Congolese.
A defeat for the defending champions would put them in a very difficult position to qualify for the quarterfinals from Group C, but Dussuyer isn't looking that far ahead just yet.
"We did not mix all the ingredients to claim more than a draw. It will be necessary to approach this very important match (against DR Congo) with a more conquering mindset," Dussuyer said.
He added" "There is no need for panic. We have two matches left and two victories will assure us of a place in the knockout stage."
DR Congo, meanwhile, can book their knockout round spot with another victory on Friday.
In the second African Cup of Nations 2017 Group C game on the day, third-place Togo and bottom of the table Morocco will face-off in Oyem as well.
Despite being the better team against Congo, Morocco left the game empty-handed in their opening contest.
Meanwhile, leading striker Emmanuel Adebayor will lead the Togolese attack.
Morocco will be aiming to get back on track with three points.
