MANCHESTER, Sporting Alert – Sergio Aguero and Kevin De Bruyne both start for Manchester City in today’s English Premier League clash with West Ham United at Etihad Stadium.
Aguero, who was supposed to be out for weeks with a knee injury, has apparently recovered fully enough to start today after being a substitute in the midweek Champions League defeat to Juventus.
De Bruyne finally gets his start for the leaders since his summer move from Germany and the Belgian international is expected to link up well with Aguero and Raheem Sterling, in the Man City attack.
He initially came in to replace the out-of-form Jesus Navas, but Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has now decided to replace Navas with David Sila, who must have picked up an injury during the warmup.
The Spanish international is not even in the squad, as Patrick Roberts has now been drafted in.
Meanwhile, with captain Vincent Kompany out injured Nicolas Otamendi comes into the starting lineup to partner Eliaquim Mangala at centre-back.
Yaya Toure and Fernandinho start in the central midfield.
For West Ham Midweek hero Dimitri Payet starts again in the midfield playmaking role and he’s expected to cause problems to Manchester City defence.
Carl Jenkinson, James Tomkins, Winston Reid and Aaron Cresswell start in the backline and they will be hoping to keep the City attack quiet.
West Ham manager Slaven Bilic believes the good form of his side has the squad believing in a major upset.
