NEW YORK, Sporting Alert – Alabama has concluded the regular season as the No. 1 team in the AP Top 25 college football rankings, while Penn State moved up to No. 5 in the term’s final poll.
The Crimson Tide (13-0) who are expected to remain No. 1 in the final College Football Playoff rankings as well, received all 61 first-place votes from the media panel for 1,525 points.
Alabama wrapped up the latest week with a convincing 54-16 win over then-No. 15 Florida for the SEC championship title.
Ohio State (11-1) remains No. 2 in the latest poll, despite being inactive over the weekend, with ACC champions Clemson staying at No. 3 and Pac-12 champs Washington keeping its place as the fourth ranked team in the country.
Moving up three places this week, however, was Penn State (11-2) which finished the regular season at No. 5, following the come back 35-31 victory over then-No. 6 Wisconsin to win the Big Ten title on Saturday.
Michigan slipped one spot to No. 6 this week in the AP Top 25 college football rankings, with Oklahoma, Wisconsin, USC and Florida State round out the Top 10.
Colorado, Western Michigan, Oklahoma State, West Virginia and Louisville are 11 through 16, while Stanford, Auburn, Virginia Tech, LSU and Florida completed the Top 20.
The last five is rounded out by Iowa, Pittsburgh, Temple, Nebraska and South Florida.
