Alabama remains No. 1; Stanford, Georgia drop in AP top 25 poll

NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Alabama remains the No. 1 team in the country, this according to the latest release of the Associated Press Top 25 Poll on Sunday.

The Crimson Tide (6-0), for the third week in a row, collected 55 of the 60 first-place votes and a total of 1,495 points from a nationwide media panel, following their 48-7 thrashing of Kentucky on Saturday night.

Oregon (6-0) once again picked up the remaining five first place votes and a total of 1,438 points to stay No. 2 in the rankings, while Clemson (6-0) and Ohio State (6-0) stayed at third and fourth, respectively.

With the previously fifth-ranked Stanford losing to Utah on Saturday, the Florida State Seminoles (5-0) move up one place to the No. 5 slot.

LSU jumped four places to No. 6, Texas A&M also up two places to No. 7, while Louisville stayed at eight and UCLA and Miami (FL) jumped into the top 10.

Last week and long-standing No. 5 Stanford dropped eight-places to thirteen, while Oklahoma fell six-place to 18th. Georgia also fell big after losing to 41-26 to No. 25 Missouri.

The Bull Dogs are now 15th, while the Tigers (6-0) jumped to 14th.

Dropping out of rankings are Michigan, who were at 18 and Northwestern, who were 19th last week.
