NEW YORK (Sporting Alert) — Alabama and Florida State, as expected remained 1-2 in The Associated Press college football poll, but Baylor leaped over Ohio State at No. 3 in the rankings, which was released on Sunday.
The Bears (9-0) moved up two places to third, following their 60-34 over Texas Tech on Saturday, while Ohio State (10-0) won their game against Illinois, 60-35, also on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Alabama Crimson Tide (10-0), who defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs, 20-7 on Saturday, became only the seventh team to hold the No. 1 ranking for 13 straight polls this season after collecting 55 first place votes and 1495 total points.
Florida State (10-0) received the next five first place votes and total of 1445 total points.
Completing the top five were the Ohio State Buckeyes and Oregon (9-1).
Stanford slipped to No. 10, following their 20-17 defeat to USC, while Auburn at sixth, Clemson, Missouri and Texas A&M complete the top ten.
