BREAKING: Wayne Rooney starts for England v Scotland Live

LONDON, England (Sporting Alert) — Wayne Rooney starts tonight for England in their international friendly football game against Scotland at Wembley Stadium.

The Manchester United forward has been involved all summer because of injuries, but England manager Roy Hodgson and captain Steven Gerrard says the forward looks sharp in training and is ready to go.

Also starting in the forward line is Rooney’s United teammate Danny Welbeck, with Tom Cleverley, Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott playing in midfield with Gerrard.

Joe Hart starts in goal, with Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill playing at center-back. Kyle Walker and Leighton Baines play as the fullbacks, as the manager make five changes from his England team that played to a 2-2 draw in Brazil in the last outing.

Phil Jones, Frank Lampard, Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole James Milner, Rickie Lambert and Wilfred Zaha are all on the bench.

Manchester United midfielder Michael Carrick pulled out of the squad because of an eye infection.

Scotland boss Gordan Strachan, in the meantime, has kept faith with the likes of Robert Snodgrass, Shaun Maloney and James Morrison, with captain Scott Brown retiring. James Forrest and Kenny Miller start as well.
