CORAL GABLES, Fla., Sporting Alert – The NCAA DI College Baseball Super Regional series continues with eight games on Saturday, June 11, as four teams try to stave off elimination.
Miami (FL), TCU, Arizona and East Carolina will all seek to advance to the NCAA College World Series in Ohama, with Game 2 wins in the best-of-three series, following positive results on Friday.
No. 3 Miami (FL) (49-11) steps into its second game against Boston College on Saturday at Mark Light Field leading the NCAA Coral Gables Super Regionals best-of-three series 1-0 and will make its second successive trip to the College World Series with another win.
The Eagles (34-21), who finished strongly in the defeat on Friday will look to force a third game with a victory in Game 2.
No. 4 Texas A&M (48-15) trails TCU 1-0 in its NCAA College Station Super Regionals, after going down 8-2 Friday evening on Olsen Field at Blue Bell Park.
The Aggies and the Horned Frogs, who improved to 8-7 in NCAA Super Regionals, play Game 2 at 9:00 PM ET on Saturday and are hunting important victories for different reasons.
Also facing elimination are No. 5 Texas Tech and No. 6 Mississippi State.
The Red Raiders went down 8-6 to East Carolina in the NCAA Lubbock Super Regionals at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park on Friday night and need to improve to force a Game 3 in the series, while the Bulldogs were 1-0 losers against Arizona in the Starkville Super Regionals.
Meanwhile, Gracing the Super Regionals on Saturday as well for Game 1s are No. 1 Florida and No. 2 Louisville.
The Gators (50-13) will tackle state rivals Florida State (40-20) in their Gainesville Super Regionals best-of-three series opener at Alfred A. McKethan Stadium.
At the Jim Patterson Stadium, the second-ranked Cardinals (50-12) open against the 13th-ranked UC Santa Barbara (40-18).
Elsewhere, surprised package Oklahoma State (39-20), making its second NCAA Super Regional appearance in the past three seasons, is expected to be a stiff challenge for South Carolina (46-16) in the NCAA Columbia Super Regionals.
In the day’s other game, the fifth-ranked LSU (45-19) takes on Coastal Carolina (47-16) in Game 1 of the NCAA Baton Rouge Super Regional series at Alex Box Stadium.
