SPORTING ALERT – Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made six adjustments to his side from the last outing for today’s Champions League group opener against Dinamo Zagreb.
The Frenchman has named David Ospina as his starting goalkeeper instead of Petr Cech, who is being rested for this coming weekend’s Premier League matchup with Chelsea.
Mathieu Debuchy starts at right-back, with Kieran Gibbs on the other side.
Veteran Mikel Arteta comes in the midfield, while winger Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and striker Olivier Giroud also start.
Making way for this contest are Nacho Monreal, Hector Bellerin, Francis Coquelin, Aaron Ramsey, Theo Walcott and Cech.
Alexis Sanchez, Mesut Ozil and Santi Cazorla all start as well for the Gunners.
“We will give our best [to win the Champions League],” Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told BT Sport. “There are two competitions really – the group where you want to get out in a strong position and then a cup competition.
“Now, let’s get good results.
“Overall, an international is rested and another international comes in so for me it is not a big change.
“We will approach it correctly but, even if we do so, it will be a difficult game. It has all the ingredients to be tricky.”
Dinamo Zagreb will be without influential midfielder Goncalo Santos, who is out because of a suspension, following his dismissal in the play-off second leg against Skenderbeu.
Paulo Machado, Arijan Ademi, Domagoj Antolic, Zach Muscat and Junior Fernandes all start as well for the home side.
Dinamo Zagreb have dropped their last six clashes against English Premier League outfits and could see that poor record extended after tonight.
Dinamo Zagreb XI: Eduardo, Ivo Pinto, Sigali, Taravel, Pivaric, Soudani, Paulo Machado, Ademi, Antolic, Fernandes, Pjaca. Subs: Jezina, Henriquez, Hodzic, Coric, Benkovic, Rog, Matel.
Arsenal XI: Ospina, Debuchy, Gabriel, Koscielny, Gibbs, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Arteta, Sanchez, Ozil, Giroud. Subs: Cech, Monreal, Chambers, Flamini, Coquelin, Walcott, Campbell.
