LONDON, Sporting Alert The following is a list of the top goalscorers in the English Premier League after Monday’s game.
After two weeks of fixtures, Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez leads a small group of players who have already found the back of the net.
The Algerian, who joined the club from the French second division side Le Havre in the January 2014 transfer window, has so far scored three goals, including an impressive brace in the season opener against Sunderland.
Mahrez is at 150/1 with Sky Bet to go all the way and become the top scorer at the end of the Premier League season in May, but only time will tell if he can continue with this run.
Romelu Lukaku, who was very impressive against Southampton at the weekend got his season up and running with two stunning goals, while his teammate Ross Barkley also has two strikes thus far this season.
Completing the notable list are Swansea City pair Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis, as well as Vincent Kompany (Manchester City) and Nathan Redmond (Norwich City) – and they are all on two goals apiece.
It is still early in the season, but Manchester United and Chelsea will be hoping that the likes of Wayne Rooney and Diego Costa, who have both been non-factors thus far, will shake off the rust and get going.
Sergio Aguero looked good in his first start on Sunday in the 3-0 win over Chelsea and he is at 9/4 to finish the season as the top goalscorer in the Premier League.
Costa is listed at 10/1 with Sky Bet to be the top scorer, with Rooney at 14/1.
Meanwhile, following his winning goal for Liverpool against AFC Bournemouth in the 1-0 win at Anfield on Monday night, Belgian striker Christian Benteke is now at 12/1 from 14/1 to finish the 2015-16 English Premier League season as the top scorer.
