LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United are interested in signing Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro in the January transfer window, according to the player’s agent.
There is no secret that David Moyes is growing frustrated with Manchester United’s poor form this season and the manager is looking to add to his squad, particularly in midfield.
Ribeiro has been linked with a move to Old Trafford and the midfielder’s agent, Robson Ferreira, was quoted as telling local press that the Premier League champions want to do business.
Earlier this week the club said they had to contact for the Brazilian starlet Ribeiro to make a move to Manchester United.
“We have not received any offer for him so far and I we are not aware of any interest from any club,” Cruzeiro’s director of football Alexandre Mattos told Globo Esporte.
“Everton Ribeiro will only leave the club if Cruzeiro want.”
However, the player’s agent had something different to say.
“Cruzeiro have not received anything because I am handling the situation directly with Man United,” Ferreira was quoted as saying by Globo Esporte.
“Everton Ribeiro has just been named the best player in Brazilian Football. Man United are interested in Everton Ribeiro.
“David Moyes is impressed and I personally met a Man United official and I was impressed. Man United consider him a complete midfielder.”
But Ferreira added: “It’s been an emotional season fighting for the title, and collective and personal honours.
“The final decision is with the player.”
