FORT LAUDERDALE, Sporting Alert – Following Sunday’s Week 13 fixtures in the NFL, here are the top 10 Fantasy Football scorers at the weekend, as QBs dominated the top five.
It’s with no surprise that star quarterback Cam Newton was one of the top points scorers around the league this weekend after he helped the Carolina Panthers (12-0) stayed undefeated this season.
Newton, who threw for 331 yards and five touchdowns, including a 15-yard scoring pass to Jerricho Cotchery with 1:05 to go in the Carolina’s 41-38 victory over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, collected 35 Fantasy Football points.
The 26-year-old, who was passing for 300 yards for the second time this term (both times against the Saints) — was leading the Panthers to its 12 successive victory on the campaign, which will see them maintaining that No. 1 spot in the ESPN NFL Rankings when the next release comes out on Tuesday.
Also grabbing 35 Fantasy Football points in Week 13 was the Tennessee Titans rookie Marcus Mariota.
Mariota finished with a combined four touchdowns for the Titans in the close 42-39 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but his biggest scoring play was midway through the fourth quarter when he raced away for an 87-yard touchdown score — the longest run in the NFL this season.
The 22-year-old finished with 380 total yards on Sunday, including 112 rushing. He had a 96.6 QBR.
Meanwhile, Ben Roethlisberger, Russell Wilson and Allen Robinson each scored 33 points on Sunday to complete the top five Fantasy Football scorers.
Wilson was also impressive this week after he tallied 325 total yards and four total touchdowns in the Seattle Seahawks’ 38-7 win over the Minnesota Vikings.
The points gathered by Wilson in Week 13, marks the second successive time he had at least 30 fantasy football points this term.
