BERLIN (Sporting Alert) — Borussia Dortmund midfielder Ilkay Gundogan is not lining up a move to leave the German club, his father claimed in the media.
English Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United, alongside Spanish side Real Madrid, have all been heavily linked with a move to sign the German, but his father Irfan Gundogan has dismissed the reports.
It is believed that Real Madrid are very interested in signing Ilkay Gundogan, and according to reports, contract talks were in close range, following a breakdown in the midfielder’s renewed deal with Borussia Dortmund.
However, the player’s father told German magazine Kicker that nothing has been agreed.
“There is no agreement between Gundogan and Real Madrid,” Irfan Gundogan was quoted as saying
“We only put contract negotiations with Dortmund on hold because we did not want to put any extra pressure on him during his lay-off.
“Of course there is a chance that he will renew his contract.”
