Lakers, Wizards Pick Up NBA Preseason Wins: Oct. 11 Scores

LOS ANGELES, Sporting Alert – Here are the scores and selected recaps from the NBA exhibitions that took place on October 11. There were four NBA preseason games played on Sunday and Lakers and Wizards were among the winners.

LA LAKERS 126, HAIFA 83

LOS ANGELES – Kobe Bryant scored 21 points and the Los Angeles Lakers beat Maccabi Haifa, 126-83 for its first preseason win on Sunday.

Bryant, who said he’s slowly feeling good again after being out for a long time because of injury, took 10 shots on the night and knock down 4 of 6 from three-point range in 18 minutes.

Nick Young also took 10 shots, went 4 of 6 from behind the arc and scored 16 points in 23 minutes, while Ryan Kelly added 15 points and seven rebounds, while going 3 of 3 from long-range on 5 of 7 shooting overall from the floor.

Julius Randle had 14 points and nine rebounds, Louis Williams finished with 13 points, while Roy Hibbert grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds and point guard D’Angelo Russell dished out 11 assists for the LA Lakers.

The Lakers shot 54.2 percent from the field on 45 of 83 and 53.8 percent from 3-pointers on 14 of 26 shooting.

Reginald Buckner led Maccabi Haifa with 20 points and seven rebounds off the bench, while Oz Blayzer added 17 points and three steals and Alex Chubrevich finished with 14 points in the defeat.

Maccabi Haifa attempted 30 three-point shots on the night and were successful on just seven.

WIZARDS 134, BAURU 100

WASHINGTON – Center Marcin Gortat scored 19 points and Bradley Beal added 17, and the Washington Wizards beat the Bauru Paschoalotto 134-100 in a preseason game on Sunday.

Drew Gooden grabbed 15 points, Otto Porter Jr. finished with 12, Kris Humphries had 11 points and nine rebounds and Nene Hilario ended with 11 points for the Wizards.

Josh Harrellson also scored in double figures with 11 points for Washington, which shot 57.1 percent from the field.

Leo Meindl and Robert Day scored 17 points each for Bauru, with big man Rafael Hettsheimeir adding 16 points in the defeat for the Brazilian side.

The Wizards scored more than 30 points in three of the four quarters on Sunday.

HORNETS 106, LA CLIPPERS 94

SHENZHEN, China — Cody Zeller and Jeremy Lin each poured in 16 points, and the Charlotte Hornets slipped past the Los Angeles Clippers 106-94 in a preseason battle on Sunday.

The LA Clippers (1-2) played without guards Chris Paul and Austin Rivers.

Zeller, who went 6 of 6 from the field, also pulled down 10 rebounds in 26 minutes in the first of two NBA preseason games between the Hornets and the Clippers in China.

Kemba Walker accounted for 13 points and five assists and Jeremy Lamb and Brian Roberts each scored 12 points for Charlotte (3-0).

J.J. Redick scored a game-high 23 points, Josh Smith had 14 and Blake Griffin added 13 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds for the Clippers.

The teams will meet again in the second NBA preseason game in China on Wednesday.
