CAVALIERS 128, ROCKETS 120
The Cleveland Cavaliers outlasted the Houston Rockets 128-120 to improve to 4-0 for the first time since the 2000-01 season.
Kyrie Irving scored 32 points and dished out four assists, Kevin Love had 24 points and five rebounds and LeBron James added 19 points, 13 rebounds and eight assists as the Big Three combined to lead the way for the Cavaliers.
James Harden scored a season-high 41 points and dished out 15 assists to help the Rockets make a run down the stretch, but Irving and James made key buckets late to see off the travellers.
“We made big plays when we needed to,” Love said on NBA TV after the game.
Irving, who buried a 3-pointer in the final minute of the game, was 10-for-19 from the floor, including 4-for-6 from 3-point range, while JR Smith made five 3-pointers in his contribution of 15 points for the Cavs.
Channing Frye and Mike Dunleavy each had 11 points off the bench for Cleveland, which won three in a row at home this season.
WARRIORS 127, TRAIL BLAZERS 104
In the night’s late NBA game, Stephen Curry scored 23 of 28 points in the third quarter, and the Golden State Warriors fended off the Portland Trail Blazers’ strong start to secure a 127-104 victory at Moda Center.
Curry, who was 10-for-21 overall from the floor, made all five of his 3-pointers in an explosive third quarter which saw Golden State outscoring Portland 41-20.
Ian Clark scored a career-high 22 points off the bench and Kevin Durant added 20 for the Warriors (3-1), who have won three straight since the season-opening loss to San Antonio.
Damian Lillard scored 31 points, Jake Layman added 17 off the bench and CJ McCollum ended with 16 for the Blazers, who trailed by as many as 35 points.
JAZZ 106, SPURS 91
George Hill had 22 points and dished out seven assists and the Utah Jazz handed the San Antonio Spurs their first loss of the season with a 106-91 victory at AT&T Center.
Rodney Hood finished with 19 points, Trey Lyles had 15 and seven rebounds and Shelvin Mack ended with 14 for the Jazz (2-2), who finished with a season-high 15 3-pointers, after going 15 for 31 from long-range on the night.
Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs (4-1) with 30 points and seven boards and LaMarcus Aldridge added 21.
No other San Antonio player reached double figures in scoring.
In other NBA scores on the Tuesday night, Miami secured an overtime 108-96 defeat over the Kings, the Magic rallied to top the 76ers 103-101, while the Timberwolves blew out the Grizzlies 116-80.
