LONDON (Sporting Alert) — There is no Wayne Rooney in the Manchester United squad for today’s FA Community Shield clash against Wigan at Wembley Stadium.

Rooney, who has been linked with a move away from the club is reportedly still carrying an injury on his shoulder.

There is not Ashley Young or Nani either, with both stay back in Manchester to recover from injuries.

Manchester United manager David Moyes has decided to start with Danny Welbeck and Robin van Persie in his attack, with Wilfried Zaha, who has been very impressive in preseason, also starting.

Michael Carrick, Ryan Giggs and Tom Cleverley are in midfielder, while Phil Jones and Nemanja Vidic start at center-back.

Notable, winger Antonio Valencia, who is battle to return to his best form will no longer wear the no.7 shirt and will now instead wear the no.25, Manchester United are reporting on its website.

Valencia is on the bench alongside Shinji Kagawa and Anderson.

Wigan manager Owen Coyle, in the meantime, made one change to the side that beat Barnsley 4-0, with James McLean coming in for Jean Beausejour.
