BROOKLYN, NY, Sporting Alert — Jeremy Lin scored 16 points and led four Brooklyn players in double-digit scoring and the Nets beat the Miami Heat 107-88 in their NBA preseason match on Thursday night.
Another Florida club, the Orlando Magic, also scored a win the NBA preseason after their victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
At the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Lin finished with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, four assists and three rebounds for the Nets.
The point guard also turned the ball over five times in his 24 minutes of action.
Sean Kilpatrick, who finished with 15 points in the win over New York on Tuesday night, added 14 points and seven rebounds, for Brooklyn against the Heat, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson had 10 points, eight rebounds, four assists and two steals.
Joe Harris also scored 10 points for the Nets (2-0), who shot 45.2 percent in the win.
Tyler Johnson had 21 points and nine rebounds in 23 minutes off the bench lead Miami (1-1) in the loss to the Nets.
Hassan Whiteside scored 19 points, grabbed nine rebounds and blocked two shots in 18 minutes, while Goran Dragic scored 12 points in the defeat.
Miami particularly struggled from 3-point range after going 4-of-27 from long distance for just 14.8 percent.
Overall, the Heat went 32-of-85 from the field for 37.6 percent.
The Nets were 45.2-percent from the floor on 42-of-93 shooting.
Meanwhile, Aaron Gordon collected a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds over 20 minutes and Orlando used a strong first half to help beat the Dallas Mavericks 112-89 in NBA preseason battle.
Nikola Vucevic scored 14 points, Mario Hezonja finished with 11 and Marreese Speights and Jonathon Simmons each tallied 10 for the Magic (1-1) who led 64-46 at halftime.
Dennis Smith Jr. scored 13 points to lead Dallas (2-1), with Yogi Ferrell adding 12.
Jeff Withey ended with 11 points and eight rebounds and Dwight Powell grabbed 11 points and six boards for the Mavericks.
In another NBA preseason fixture on Thursday night, the Houston Rockets earned a comfortable 144-82 victory over the Shanghai Sharks.
Trevor Ariza tallied 18 points and 10 rebounds, Eric Gordon hit five 3-pointers and scored 17 points, while Clint Capela finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds over 19 minutes to lead the Rockets (2-0), who outscored the Sharks 81-41 in the first half.
Luc Mbah a Moute and Troy Williams each had 12 points, while Chris Paul contributed 11 points, 14 assists, four steals and three rebounds for Houston, which made 22 3-pointers and shot 60.4 percent from the field overall.
Josh Emmanuel Akognon finished with 27 points, seven rebounds and six assists for Shanghai and Nick Minnerath had 22 points and eight boards in the defeat.
In the other NBA preseason game on the night, Damian Lillard had 16 points, eight assists and five rebounds to lead the Portland Trail Blazers (1-1) to a 106-101 win over the Toronto Raptors.
Kyle Lowry ended with 23 points and six assists for the Raptors (1-2).
