MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert — NBA preseason round-up and scores from the list of games that were played on Monday night, Oct. 2.
At TD Garden, offseason movers Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward made their debuts for Boston as the Celtics pulled away to beat the Charlotte Hornets 94-82.
Irving, who made the move from the Cleveland Cavaliers, finished with nine points on 4-of-11 shooting, with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and one turnover in 19 minutes.
Hayward, who switched to Boston from Utah, had five points on 2-of-6 shooting, with five rebounds, one assist and one turnover across 17 minutes.
Daniel Theis led Boston with 12 points and seven rebounds, while Aron Baynes and Abdel Nader each added 10 points in the win.
Rookie Jayson Tatum had nine points, five rebounds, four assists, two steals, two blocks and one turnover inside 33 minutes for the Celtics.
Jeremy Lamb finished with 17 points on 6-of-10 shooting, with eight rebounds, three assists and one steal for the Hornets in the defeat.
Sacramento Kings defeated the San Antonio Spurs in the opening NBA preseason game for both teams.
Rookie Frank Mason III led the Kings with 17 points and six rebounds in his 22 minutes in the 106-100 victory over the Spurs.
Fellow rookie De’Aaron Fox posted 16 points on a near perfect 7-of-8 shooting, while Skal Labissiere added 15 points and Buddy Hield scored 12 points for Sacramento in the win.
All three players came off the bench.
LaMarcus Aldridge had 17 points across 15 minutes to lead San Antonio.
Meanwhile, Gary Harris tallied 25 points and the Denver Nuggets picked up their second win of the preseason after outscoring Lonzo Ball and the Los Angeles Lakers 113-107 win.
Kyle Kuzma had 23 points and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope ended with 15 for the LA Lakers.
Ball had eight points and four assists in the defeat for LA.
In other NBA preseason scores on Monday night, Utah Jazz beat Sydney Kings 108-84 at Vivint Smart Home Arena in Salt Lake City, Memphis Grizzlies picked up a 92-84 win over Orlando Magic, while Dallas Mavericks edged Milwaukee Bucks 108-106
Washington Wizards picked up a 126-96 win over Guangzhou Long-Lions at Capital One Arena.
