The Barcelona new forward fired home brilliantly past Eiji Kawashima after three-minutes, following a chest down past by Fred that landed in his path.
Neymar used his technical skills to get right over the ball and kept it down as it raced into the top corner of the goal, giving the diving Kawashima no chance.
The goal was Neymar’s 21 in 35 games and he will certainly be looking to add more to his tally.
Both Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa came close to scoring for Japan, with the best chance coming from the former, who watched his free-kick pushed away by the alerted Júlio César in the Brazil goal.
