Orlando Magic Tops Miami Heat 113-107 – Game Highlights, Reports & Stats

Game report, stats, and free highlights as the Orlando Magic defeated the Miami Heat 113-107 in the NBA season opener for both teams on Wednesday night.

Evan Fournier scored 25 points on 9 for 13 shooting with three 3-pointers for the Magic, while Aaron Gordon added 20 points on 8 of 11 shooting from the field with seven rebounds in the win.

Orlando held a one point 99-98 lead with 3:01 left in the game, but Fournier helped the home side secure the win by scoring six points during those final minutes.

”It was a good win and you always want to win the first game, especially when it’s at home,” said Fournier. ”It’s definitely rewarding to win against a team like Miami because it’s always tough to play against them.”

Terrence Ross finished with 19 points off the bench, Nikola Vucevic contributed a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds and Markelle Fultz scored 15 points with five boards and four assists for Orlando.

”I don’t think, outside of Orlando, people have a lot of belief in us,” Gordon said. ”I don’t think they think that we’re going to become potential contenders or even have a playoff slot and I don’t think that’s true. I feel like we’re really ready to make that next leap.”

Bam Adebayo paced Miami with a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds.

Goran Dragic had 20 points on 8 for 13 shooting to go with seven assists and Jimmy Butler added 19 points, seven assists, and a career-best seven steals for the Heat.

Duncan Robinson finished with 14 points and made three 3-pointers with Tyler Herro ending with 13 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Miami, which shot 50.6% from the field on 42 of 83 shooting.

The Heat trailed 56-53 at halftime but managed to outscore the Magic 54-44 in the paint and grabbed the edge off the glass – outrebounding Orlando 43-41.
