MIAMI, FL (November 23) —— Nijel Pack scored 23 points and Miami used a balanced effort to beat St. Francis Brooklyn 79-56 in a college basketball game at Watsco Center on Wednesday.
Pack scored 12 of his total points in just nine minutes in the first half where he shot 4 of 5 from the field and made a pair of three-pointers. He was 9 of 13 overall from the field tonight for Miami, which used a 10-0 run to open up the game. After missing his only shot from the floor in the first half, Norchad Omier scored 10 of his 13 points in an effective second period where he made four of his five baskets, while pulling down 10 rebounds for his 38th career double-double and picked up four steals in the Hurricanes’ win.
Isaiah Wong ended with 10 points, six rebounds and also had four of the team’s 13 steals as Miami (5-1) which shot 52% overall, scored 26 points off 19 turnovers and put up 42 points in the paint.
Tedrick Wilcox Jr. scored a career-high 18 points to lead the way for St. Francis Brooklyn. He made 3-pointers and grabbed five rebounds for the Terriers (2-3), who shot just 36%.
St. Francis Brooklyn jumped out to a fast start and took a 9-2 lead and held the lead until Miami used an 8-0 Miami run to tie the game a little over midway through the first half. The home side led 38-26 at halftime and outscored the Terriers 41-30 in the second period.
