Preseason Scores, Box Scores And Recaps on Oct. 14

SPORTING ALERT – The NBA preseason scores and recaps from the list of games that took place on Wednesday night.

RAPTORS 89, TIMBERWOLVES 87

OTTAWA — Gorgui Dieng scored 14 points off the bench and veteran Tayshaun Prince added 13 and the Minnesota Timberwolves grabbed its first NBA preseason win with an 89-87 victory over the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night.

There were three other Minnesota (1-3) players scoring in double digits, with Karl-Anthony Towns and Tyus Jones each finishing with 12 and Andrew Wiggins ending with 11.

James Johnson and Delon Wright scored 11 points apiece for the Raptors (3-2) and forward Anthony Bennett grabbed 10 points, eight rebounds and three steals.

Bismack Biyombo had 10 points and six rebounds and Norman Powell finished with 10 points and three steals in the defeat for Toronto at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa.

The Raptors take on the Washington Wizards in Montreal on Friday night in their final stop of the NBA Canada Series, while the Timberwolves will be at the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

HAWKS 100, SPURS 86

ATLANTA — Jeff Teague scored 19 points to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 100-86 win over the San Antonio Spurs in NBA preseason action at Philips Arena on Wednesday night.

Paul Millsap and Kyle Korver each scored 13 points, with the former also pulling down nine rebounds for the Hawks (3-0), who outscored the Spurs 58-38 in the second half on their way to staying perfect in the preseason.

Kawhi Leonard led the Spurs with a game-high 20 points, with Manu Ginobili being the only other San Antonio (0-3) player to score in double figures with 10 points.

Forward LaMarcus Aldridge had back spasms and did not play, while 39-year-old Tim Duncan was limited to just 13 minutes and didn’t feature in the second half.

Duncan scored four points on 2 of 3 shooting for San Antonio, which remains winless from three preseason games thus far.

Meanwhile, Hawks forward Thabo Sefolosha made his first appearance since April, and played eight-minutes while scoring five points.

Sefolosha broke his right leg during an encounter with New York police.

PISTONS 114, BULLS 91

CHICAGO — Point guard Reggie Jackson scored 20 points in a starting role and the Detroit Pistons picked up a 114-91 preseason victory over the Chicago Bulls at United Center on Wednesday night.

Jackson went 7 of 15 from the field and played 27 minutes.

Marcus Morris and Reggie Bullock each added 17 points and Andre Drummond had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Pistons (2-3).

E’Twaun Moore paced the Bulls with 16 points, while Aaron Brooks added 13 and Doug McDermott ending with 12 in reserve roles. Rookie Bobby Portis scored 11 points in the defeat

Joakim Noah (8) and Pau Gasol (5) combined for 13 points in a combined 44 minutes for Chicago.
