Reports: Liverpool and QPR agree fee for French forward Remy

LONDON (SportingAlert) — Loic Remy could be on his way to Liverpool, following reports that the Reds have agreed a fee of £8.5 million with Queens Park Rangers.

Remy, who was on loan with Newcastle United last season, had been linked with a move to several clubs, including Arsenal, but Sky Sports is now reporting that the French striker could become a member of Brendan Rodgers’ side this summer.

Remy is currently a QPR player and would still play in the English Premier League this coming season, but the 27-year-old wants to move to a club that is in the Champions League.

It is understood that there is a clause in the player’s current contract which allows him to speak to teams in the Champions League with certain criteria.

Sky Sports is also reporting that Harry Redknapp and QPR have given the forward permission to speak to Liverpool about the possible move as they seek to replace the departing Luis Suarez.

Remy, scored 14 goals during his loan stint at Newcastle United last season and it was believed that he was in talks with Arsenal about a move.
