CORVALLIS, Ore. – North Carolina, Oregan State, Mississippi State and Washington edged closer to booking places to the College World Series after winning Game 1 of their respective NCAA Baseball Super Regional contest on Friday.
In the Corvallis Super Regional at Goss Stadium at Coleman Field, No. 3 nationally ranked Oregon State, the nation’s top offensive team, once again showed its power with an 8-1 victory over Minnesota in Game 1.
Game 2 in the Corvallis Super Regional is on Saturday at 9:30 pm ET, live on ESPN2. The Gophers (44-14) will be hoping to stave off elimination and force a Game 3 on Sunday.
On Friday, the Beavers (48-10-1) belted three homers in the opening inning to jump out to a commanding lead and then kept the scoreboard ticking over throughout the contest en route to the victory.

Heimlich, who was shunned for the second straight year in the Major League Baseball amateur draft, struck out nine on Friday to take his tally to 151 strikeouts this year – extending his school-record mark.
Meanwhile, Elijah MacNamee came up big again for Mississippi State after the junior hit a clutch home run to lift the Bulldogs to a 10-8 victory over Vanderbilt in walk-off fashion in the Nashville Super Regional at Hawkins Field and move within one game of a trip to Omaha.
Game 2 is Saturday, starting at 9:30 pm ET and live on ESPN and WatchESPN.
The Commodores must win this game if they are to extend their season and stay on track to make it to Omaha.
