Vanderbilt and Missouri will clash in the SEC Baseball Tournament for the second successive season year and the neutrals will be hoping for another intense contest.
The two clubs battled out a classic game in the second round of last season’s tournament before the Commodores picked up a 7-6 victory in 10 innings.
Vanderbilt also won series this season – sweeping the Tigers in Columbia in March, while holding a 13-0 all-time record against Missouri.
The Commodores are also heading into this fixture on good form after completing their sixth series sweep for this campaign when beating Auburn.
Mizzou will be playing in its third SEC Baseball Tournament in four years and the hope is to improve on the 1-3 all-time in the tournament since joining the conference in 2013.
RHP Patrick Raby (6-1, 2.91) vs. RHP Tanner Houck (5-5, 2.09)
In the other three games on the schedule for Tuesday’s opening day, No. 7 Ole Miss takes on No. 10 Georgia in Game 2, No. 8 Kentucky and No. 9 Alabama will face-off in Game 3, while No. 5 LSU will tackle No. 12 Tennessee in Game 4.
Should they win on Tuesday, the LSU Tigers will have their hands full again, as the winner of their clash will play the No. 4 seeded Florida on Wednesday.
“Tennessee is one of the better offensive team in the SEC, and they are playing with a lot of confidence right now,” LSU coach Paul Mainieri said on the school’s website.
“We’ve traditionally enjoyed a lot of success in this tournament, and it very important that we play at our best against Tennessee in order to have a chance to win.
“Each game we play in the postseason will carry a lot of meaning, and we’re looking forward to the challenge of starting this tournament against a talented club.”
