College Football Schedule

OKLAHOMA, Sporting Alert – No. 2 TCU hits the turf tonight as the highest-ranked team in action on opening night and the Frogs will be looking to make a flying start to the season.

Live ESPN GameCast Coverage

Lots of attention will be on Trevone Boykin, last season’s Big 12 offensive player of the year and a possible Heisman candidate.

The Horned Frogs come into this battle with perhaps the best offense in the college football this season and will look to pick up from where they left off last season.

Minnesota heads into this contest, having lost five straight games against Big 12 opponents since picking up a victory at Baylor 15-year-ago.

In addition, the Golden Gophers haven’t faced an AP Top-2 opponent since 2006 and will be hoping for a better performance this time round, following the 44-0 loss at No. 1 Ohio State. Live online streaming will WatchESPN, while live television coverage is on ESPN after the North Carolina against South Carolina.

EARLIER REPORT

As the dog days of summer prepare to give way to the crisp apple-and-pumpkin afternoons of the fall, college football fans across the nation are gearing up in anticipation of week 1 of the 2015 season.

The tailgates are primed, the players are limber, the bands are in tune, and the nation’s attention returns once again to the gridiron.

Live streaming coverage for the games on Thursday will be on ESPN3, ESPNU, Fox Sports 1, CBSSN, Watch ESPN and the SEC Network.

Defending national champion Ohio State will have to wait until Monday night to start the defense of their title, but there will be no shortage of action on the first night of Week 1.

There will be several games on opening night, but the highlight on Thursday is expected to come from the Michigan against Utah and North Carolina against South Carolina battles.

After an impressive season last year, Utah, which finished with a 9-4 record during that campaign, is being backed as one of the teams to watch this term and fans will be able to see them in action in the opener against Michigan at Rice Eccles Stadium, live on FOX Sports 1 at 8:30 PM.

Utah heads into Thursday night’s Week 1 action with a promising win streak in college football season openers.

The Utes, who have four returning starters on the offensive line, has won its last seven games to start the season. Interestingly, this current streak started against Michigan with a 25-23 win on the road in 2008.

Utah has also won 10 straight games at home to start the season, a streak that dates back to 2001 with a win over Utah State in Salt Lake City. They are 53-19-1 when getting the season underway at home.

The Utes lead the overall series against the Wolverines, 2-1.

Meanwhile, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, NC, South Carolina will continue its rivalry with North Carolina to start their college football campaigns.

UNC has dominated this series, leading 34-18-4, but South Carolina has won two straight and five of the last six meetings.

According to ESPN stats report, the Tar Heels, who were beaten 27-10 by South Carolina when these two teams last met in the 2013 season opener, have not won a campaign opener against a current “Power-5 opponent” since beating Indiana in 1997 and have lost seven straight season openers against opponents in that category.
