The 18-point deficit was the largest comeback win for a title game in the BCS since 1998.

Freshman quarterback Jameis Winston, as he’s been doing all year, played a big part in the Seminoles’ victory, include throwing the game-winning score to Kelvin Benjamin with 13 seconds left in the game.

The victory at the Rose Bowl Stadium on Monday also saw the Seminoles (14-0) claiming its third national championship title, after winning in 1993 and 1999 before this year.

“I said this from Day 1 in spring ball. These kids are special,” Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher told reporters after the comeback victory.

“This group never faltered. They wanted to be elite.

“They wanted to go to the top and there’s so much character in this group.”
