LAWRENCE, Kan. — No. 3 Kansas and No. 2 Baylor will battle in a key Big 12 conference contest on Wednesday night and you can watch live stream of the contest on WatchESPN. ESPN2 is also broadcasting the game live nationally, with the tip-off scheduled for 9:00 pm ET. Follow Live GameCast on NCAA.com
The Bears (20-1, 7-1 Big 12) have lost just once this season and it came at the hands of West Virginia, which also handed the Jayhawks (19-2, 7-1 Big 12) their second defeat of the campaign a week ago.
Both teams have their eyes well set on winning the Big 12 and a victory tonight would certainly send out a strong statement.
Despite being the higher ranked teams entering this contest, Baylor starts as the underdogs in Lawrence, according to ESPN’s Basketball Power Index.
Kansas has won eight straight games against the Bears, including all three meetings last term. The Jayhawks are also 14-0 at home against tonight’s opponents.
ESPN’s Basketball Power Index is giving KU a 74 percent chance to beat Baylor tonight but several coaches who have already faced the Bears believe the men from Texas is competent enough to end Kansas’ dominance in the Big 12 this season.
KEY PLAYERS
Frank Mason III and Devonte’ Graham who is averaging 19.9 points and 13.6 points per game, respectively, are regarded as the best backcourt partnership in NCAA basketball and they are expected to cause serious problems for the Baylor defense.
Mason leads the Big 12 in scoring offense.
Freshman Josh Jackson, who is averaging 15.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, had game-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win at Kentucky on Saturday.
Jackson is definitely another key figure to look out for in the Jayhawks lineup and if he gets going, the 6-8 guard from Detroit, will be difficult to contain.
Meanwhile, for Baylor, Johnathan Motley is averaging 16.2 points and 9.6 rebounds per game. Motley is ranked fourth in scoring in the Big 12 but leads the league in rebounds per contest.
Guard Manu Lecomte is scoring 12.3 points per game, Al Freeman is averaging 10.2 and Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. is averaging 10.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per battle for the Bears.
