Winthrop Improves To 10-0 After Beating Gardner-Webb 75-65

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Adonis Arms jumped off the bench to scored 17 points and Winthrop picked up a 75-65 win over Gardner-Webb on Saturday to remain undefeated this season. BOX SCORE

Arms, who shot 5-of-9 from the field and made 4 of his 5 attempts from 3-pointers, also grabbed five rebounds with two assists in 18 minutes.

Chandler Vaudrin added 12 points, eight assists, seven rebounds, and two steals, while Micheal Anumba finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three assists for Winthrop (10-0, 7-0 Big South Conference), which is off to its best start in program history.

D.J. Burns Jr. ended with seven points and five rebounds and Kelton Talford had seven rebounds in the win for the Eagles, who 34.4% from the field on 22 of 64 shots and outrebounded Gardner-Webb 48-44.

Career-High For Gardner-Webb’s Sears

Jordan Sears finished with a career-high 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting off the bench for the Runnin’ Bulldogs (3-7, 2-3), who trailed 35-24 at halftime.

Jaheam Cornwall added 17 points four rebounds and three assists, Jacob Falko had seven points and 10 rebounds, while Jamaine Mann chipped in with seven points and eight rebounds in the defeat for Gardner-Webb, which shot 34.9% on 22 of 63 from the floor and made just 7 of the 25 attempts from 3-pointers.

Winthrop, which is the only undefeated team in the Big South Conference, was collecting its 15th straight victory, which dated back to last February.

Winthrop will aim to improve to 11-0 on Sunday (Jan. 10) when it battles against Gardner-Webb again at Winthrop Coliseum, starting at 1:00 p.m. ET.
