PORTLAND, Ore. (November 27) —— Zach Edey had a double-double with 21 points and 12 rebounds and the No. 24 Purdue Boilermakers (6-0) beat the No. 8 Duke Blue Devils (6-2), 75-56 in the Phil Knight Legacy 2022 championship game at Moda Center in Portland, Oregon, on Sunday (27).
Edey shot 7-of-13 from the field today and made 7 of his 8 attempts from the free throw line as part of his fifth double-double performance this season for Purdue, which collected back-to-back wins against AP Top 10 teams this season, following the 84-66 hammering of No. 6 Gonzaga in the semifinals of the Phil Knight Legacy tournament on Friday night.
Fletcher Loyer added 18 points and made four 3-pointers, while Caleb Furst had 11 points and 10 rebounds for the Boilermakers, who shot 44.8% from the field on their way to winning six in a row to start the new season.

Meanwhile, Tyrese Proctor scored 16 points with five rebounds and three assists for Duke, while Kyle Filipowski ended with 14 points and five rebounds and Jeremy Roach scored 14 points for the Blue Devils, who shot 36.2% (21 for 58) from the field overall and made only two of the 19 attempts from 3-points for a season-low.
The defeat on Sunday saw Duke missing out on winning five in a row since losing to the then-No. 6 Kansas on Nov. 15.
Purdue went into the halftime break with a 46-35 lead and build on the advantage to surge ahead 68-56 with 4:51 remaining. Duke made a good start to the game after getting out 14-7 early, but Purdue worked its way back into the game to dominate the contest.
For his outstanding performance at the tournament, the 7-foot-4 Edey was rightfully named tournament MVP.
