Andy Flower set to walk-out if Kevin Pietersen stays – Reports

Kevin Pietersen of England

LONDON (Sporting Alert) — Andy Flower is all ready to resign as England cricket team coach if top order batsman Kevin Pietersen remains in the national setup, reports in England are saying.

It was only recently that Pietersen, a controversial figure in the England side, tweeted that he is committed to keep playing for his country and was looking forward to helping the team win back the Ashes.

He said on his Twitter Account: “I want to thank all the England fans for their terrific support. And I’m determined to help regain the Ashes in 2015.”

However, according to the Daily Mail, Flower doesn’t want Pietersen in his team and is believed to be ready to resign if he carry on playing.

It is understood that Pietersen has not been a popular figure in the England dressing room, and was seen as a major distraction during the team’s embarrassing 5-0 Ashes whitewash in Australia recently.

Still, the popular batsman revealed that he intends to keep playing on, despite doubts over his future.

Flower recently stated his plans to keep leading the England team, but admits that changes must be made in going forward.

He, however, resisted pokes to single out individuals following the Ashes defeat.

“It would be absolutely wrong of me to talk about individuals,” he said.

“This has been a bad loss and as part of our review we will be making sure we have the right people on board for the future but this will be a new start and so it should be.”
