SUNDERLAND (Sporting Alert) — Manchester United manager David Moyes makes seven changes for tonight’s Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at Sunderland.
Among the changes are the fit-again Rafael, who returns from an injury, captain Nemanja Vidic, Michael Carrick, Patrice Evra and David de Gea, while Ryan Giggs and Adnan Januzaj also start as well.
However, there’s no Wayne Rooney, while Javier Hernandez starts on the bench.
Danny Welbeck starts up front, with Shinji Kagawa, Chris Smalling and Alexander Büttner, who impressed in the FA Cup defeat to Swansea on Sunday, back on the bench.
Former Manchester United defender John O’Shea returns to the starting team, while former Bolton left-back Marcos Alonso makes his Sunderland debut.
Black Cats boss Gus Poyet also makes seven changes from the team that won against Carlisle in the FA Cup.
