TEXAS, Sporting Alert – College football scores from the AP 25 teams that were in action on Thursday night, Oct. 29. There are also selected scores and results.

NO. 5 TCU 40, WEST VIRGINIA 10

FORT WORTH, Texas — Trevone Boykin threw for 388 yards and three touchdowns and ran for another 84 yards with a score and No. 5 TCU rout West Virginia 40-10 on Thursday night in college football action.

Boykin, who went 32 of 47 on passes, finished with a 91.4 QBR, while carrying the ball 11 times on the night.

On his touchdown run, the athletic quarterback, who was a handful for the West Virginia defense, hurdled a defender at the goal line to cap off a very impressive outing.

Boykin, according to the stats gurus, has now passed for 12,041 total career yards, which breaks the previous record of 11,925 held by Andy Dalton (2007-10), who now features for the Cincinnati Bengals in the NFL.

The senior also becomes the 40th player in FBS history to reach the 12,000 yards mark in total offense.

Josh Doctson took 11 catches for 183 yards and two touchdowns, Kyle Hicks caught a pass for a score and Jaden Oberkrom connected on all four of his field goals in the win for the Horned Frogs, which collected its 16th successive victory, the nation’s second-longest active winning streak, behind Ohio State’s 21.

“We’re 8-0. Now it’s time to work on being 9-0,” TCU coach Gary Patterson said. “This time of year, that’s all you need to worry about.

“I keep telling you to appreciate Trevone Boykin and Josh Doctson. They are pretty special people.”

Skyler Howard passed for 160 yards and one touchdown and ran for an added 40 yards, while Wendell Smallwood rushed 20 times for 113 yards in the defeat for the Mountaineers.

With the win, TCU, which tallied 616 total yards in contest, improved to 8-0 overall on the season and 5-0 in Big 12.

NORTH CAROLINA 26, NO. 23 PITTSBURGH 19

PITTSBURGH — Marquise Williams went 14 of 23 and threw two touchdown passes and North Carolina upset No. 23 Pittsburgh 26-19 in a college football battle on Thursday night.

Williams, who also ran for 52 yards on nine carries, threw touchdown passes to Ryan Switzer (71 yards) and Mack Hollins (32 yards) in helping the Tar Heels (7-1, 4-0) jumped ahead in the second quarter, after outscoring the Panthers 17-0 heading into the halftime break.

Switzer caught the ball five times for 126 yards and Hollins took two catches for 84 yards for North Carolina, which took over the lead in the Atlantic Coast Conference Coastal.

The Tar Heels have now won seven games in a row, its best start since 1997.

Nathan Peterman passed for 262 yards and a touchdown, while running for another 41 yards in the defeat for Pittsburgh (6-2, 3-1).
