ESPN3 Tennessee Football

DALLAS, Sporting Alert – Week 5 of the college football schedule includes four AP Top 25 ranked v ranked matchups and they are all going to be very interesting.

Both teams are heading into Saturday’s battle undefeated, having all five of their respective opening games.

The have also taken two AP Top 25 ranked teams so far this season so this weekend’s contest is shaping up to be a classic.

The Vols (5-0) have managed to get the better of Florida and Georgia with two gutsy performances, while the Aggies (5-0) have gotten the better of UCLA and Arkansas.

College football pundits and the media panel all agreed that on current form, both Texas A&M and Tennessee deserve to be in the top 10, but there will be some shift in rankings after this weekend’s game in College Station.

Saturday’s battle will be the first meeting between these two sides since the Aggies joined the SEC.

Dating back to last October when it won at Kentucky, Tennessee has compiled the nation’s second-longest winning streak at 11 games, but has struggled equally against sides from the SEC West – losing 11 straight against such opponents.

The oddsmakers currently have the Texas A&M listed as 7-point favourites against Tennessee, but this game is expected to be much closer against the Volunteers.

Another AP Top 25 ranked v ranked matchup, sees No. 1 Alabama travelling to face No. 16 Arkansas at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

The Crimson Tide (5-0) have won nine straight in this series, including two 52-0 victories in 2012 and 2013.

No. 23 Florida State heads to No. 10 Miami looking to keep its spot in the AP Top 25 for the next release.

A defeat for the Seminoles (3-2) this weekend would be their third of the season, while the Hurricanes (4-0) are hunting their fifth successive victory and the first against an AP Top 25 ranked team this term.

According to AP, the last time Miami was ranked higher than Florida State coming into this clash was 2010, when the Seminoles were No. 23 and Hurricanes were No. 13.

The other AP Top 25 ranked v ranked matchup in Week 5 sees No. 17 North Carolina playing host to No. 25 Virginia Tech.
