The game will see the pair of “undefeated Tigers” facing-off in a SEC conference opener and after a very good week of training, the hosts are looking to maintain their free scoring as well as keeping things tight in defence this season.
LSU, who currently is averaging 46.0 points per game, are allowing just 19.0 points and 267.7 total yards per game.
“We’ve had another good week of preparation,” LSU head coach Les Miles said. “We are healthy and ready to go. We worked this week with the weather in mind.
“When you’re in Louisiana, you work wet footballs a lot. We are familiar with that and will be ready to operate in the rain if necessary.”
Preparation for this game has brought new life to the hosts and Miles is also hoping the rain won’t keep the fans away.
“There’s more sense of urgency, more pick up in our step,” he said. “It’s conference play.
“We would encourage and would enjoy a crowd that was naturally passionate for their Tigers and would raise the decibel levels so that the opponent would have difficulty in using the ability to communicate.
“We would like it to be rocking. We want Tiger Stadium to be at its best. There’s nothing better than a Saturday night in Tiger Stadium no matter what the weather is like.”
Auburn is expected to bring its A-game on Saturday night after picking up victories in the opening three games of the season, including last Saturday’s 24-20 win over fellow SEC rivals, Mississippi State Bulldogs.
