Big Ten Men’s Basketball Standings On Feb. 1

COLLEGE PARK, Md. — The Big Ten Men’s Basketball Standings after the list of games that took place last week.

Highlighting the score list last week was No. 8 Maryland, which secured a 74-68 victory over No. 3 Iowa in the battle between two top teams currently ranked in the AP top 10.

That win led to a 66-61 nailing biting victory over Ohio State on Sunday for the Terrapins (19-3) who improved to 8-2 in conference play and 3rd in the Big Ten standings — 0.5 GAMES behind the leaders.

No. 19 Indiana and Iowa sit atop of the standings with identical 8-1 conference records.

The Hoosiers (18-4) who dropped their first Big Ten conference game of the season to Wisconsin, bounced back with a 74-68 win over last place Minnesota to stay top of the league.

The Hawkeyes (17-4) also fell for the first time in the league this season last week, but recovered with an 85-71 win over Northwestern.

Michigan (17-5) sits fourth in the standings with a 7-2 record, while leading a pair of teams that have already won 19 games overall this season.

The Wolverines are currently on a four-game winning streak and will take on Indiana in their next fixture on Tuesday night.

No. 21 Purdue is at fifth place in the Big Ten with a 7-3 league record, while the Boilermakers have an overall record of 19-4. They have won two games in a row and five of the past six overall.

Elsewhere, No. 12 Michigan State (19-4) sits sixth with a 6-4 conference record. The Spartans have won three straight after ending a three-game skid against Maryland.

Ohio State (14-9, 6-4 Big Ten), Wisconsin (13-9, 5-4), Nebraska (12-10, 4-5), Northwestern (15-8, 3-7), Penn State (11-11, 2-7) and Illinois (10-12, 2-7) are the other teams with victories in conference play this term.

However, Rutgers (6-16, 0-9) and Minnesota (6-16, 0-10) are both still waiting on their first win in the league.

I am your everyday laid back person who has been writing for over seven years after doing night classes to learn about my trade. I really like my job and work hard at doing it. I also like to take some time to just chill at the beach with my family when I am not traveling.
