ORLANDO, FL, Sporting Alert – After failing to beat Ecuador in their Copa America opener, Brazil will hope for a more fruitful result against Haiti in their Group B fixture at Citrus Bowl in Orlando, FL, on Wednesday.
Brazil start with another strong lineup, with English Premier League stars Philippe Coutinho of Liverpool and Chelsea’s Willian among those in the starting XI.
The duo was unable to breakdown Ecuador in the 0-0 drawn last week, but are confident about taking the game to Haiti, as they seek to move closer to booking a quarterfinal place.
Coutinho and Willian will link with Jonas in the attack for the South Americans, with Casemiro, Renato Augusto and Elias starting in midfield.
Marquinhos, will play alongside Gil, Filipe Luís and Dani Alves in the backline and the PSG defender warns his teammate about complacency against the CONCACAF side.
He said: “We had good ball possession versus Ecuador. Ecuador’s controlled defence gave us problems in our counter-attacks.
“We had a few goal-scoring opportunities that were wasted, we can’t let that happen with Haiti.
“We need to respect our opponent and know that nothing is given to us just because we are Brazil.
“We need to perform and we need to earn all the points we get.”
Pascal Millien will again start on the bench tonight for Haiti, but the 30-year-old midfielder, who is a big Brazilian fan, and was an unused substitute against Peru, will be hoping to play some part in this fixture.
Starting tonight, though, for Haiti is midfielder Kevin Lafrance, who will be vital for his team going forward.
Starting as well are Jean-Michel Alexandre, Jean Sony Alcenat, James Marcelin, Jeff Louis and Kervens Belfort, with Mechak Jerome also playing in the backline.
Brazil bench is also loaded with talents with Lucas Lima, Hulk, Ganso, Gabriel and Lucas Moura all available to coach Dunga.
The five-time World Cup winners have already been criticized for the poor showing against Ecuador on Saturday night, so Dunga’s men cannot afford to drop any more points.
