British Grand Prix Formula One Results – July 6

LONDON (SportingAlert) — Results from the British Grand Prix Formula One race, which took place at Silverstone on Sunday afternoon, July 6.

Great Britain No. 1 and Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton, who started the race in sixth, went on to win the title, after teammate Nico Rosberg was forced to retire on lap 29 after a gear box failure.

Coming into the race, Hamilton trailed Rosberg by 29 points, but his victory saw that gap cutting down to just four points (165 to 161), as the race for the Formula One World Championship title blew wide open.

On Sunday Hamilton covered the 52 lap race in 2:26:52.094, securing his second British Grand Prix crown and finished 30.1s ahead of the other podium finishers.

Williams’ driver Valtteri Bottas, improving his podium position from Austria by one place, took second, with third going to Daniel Ricciardo of Red Bull Racing.

“To get that result today, to really climb through…at the end of the day I really needed this result, so I’m very grateful for it,” a delighted Hamilton said.

“This weekend just showed you never give up.”
