Capital One Cup 4th Rnd Draw: Man City v Palace

LONDON, Sporting Alert – Manchester City have been drawn with fellow English Premier League outfits Crystal Palace in the 4th round of the Capital One Cup.

The draw took place live on Sky Sports News on Wednesday, following the third round games on the day.

Manchester City were convincing 4-1 winners against Sunderland in their third game on Tuesday night and they now setup a battle with Alan Pardew’s Crystal Palace side which also dominated 10-man Charlton Athletic 4-1 on Wednesday night.

Manchester United, who cruised to a comfortable victory over Ipswich Town, will entertain Championship high-fliers Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

Man United finished the contest 3-0 winners on the evening, with summer recruit Anthony Martial finding the back-of-the-net again.

The Frenchman now scored four goals in four games. Fellow teenage talent Andreas Pereira also scored a brilliant free-kick in the win.

Arsenal, after dumping London rivals and fellow EPL outfits Tottenham in the third round, have been rewarded with a trip away to Sheffield Wednesday in the fourth round. This clash will be a repeat of the 1993 final, which was won by Arsenal, 2-1 at Wembley.

Championship club Sheffield Wednesday upset Newcastle United 1-0 on the road in their 3rd round match.

There are four other all English Premier League clashes, with holders Chelsea traveling to Stoke City, Everton host Norwich and Southampton, who hammered MK Dons 6-0 in the 3rd round, playing hosts to Aston Villa.

Liverpool were taken to penalties by League Two side Carlisle, but managed to survive and will face fellow EPL side Bournemouth.

Championship side Hull City who dumped Swansea City from the tournament on Tuesday night, will face Leicester City, the only undefeated team left in the English Premier League this season.

Capital One Cup fourth round ties to be played week commencing October 26.
