VIGO, Sporting Alert – Defending champions Barcelona were hammered 4-1 by an impressive Celta Vigo side in the Spanish La Liga on Wednesday.
A brace from former Liverpool forward Iago Aspas, including a superb chipped finish in the first half, piloted Eduardo Berizzo’s side to the shocking victory, as they stayed undefeated to start the season.

Nolito, who opened the scoring and substitute John Guidetti were the other goalscorers for Celta Vigo who jumped ahead of Barcelona in the La Liga table standings.
Aspas, who was regarded as a swing-and-a-miss during his time in the English Premier League with Liverpool, was outstanding today for Celta Vigo.
“Liverpool fans will be surprised to hear Iago Aspas scored twice for Celta Vigo against Barcelona,” English football commentator Ian Darke said on his official Twitter account after the game.
Neymar pulled a goal back for Barcelona in the 82nd minute, but by then the game was already long gone away from the defending champions.
The defeat now means Real Madrid can move to the top of the league with a victory in their game against Athletic Bilbao.
Barcelona struggled to keep up with the home side’s pace and attacking style of football and manager Luis Enrique gave credit to the winners.
“What decided this game is how well Celta played,” Enrique said after his team’s defeat. “It was highly effective football from them. It was very good.
“We tried to create problems, but we suffered a lot in one-on-one situations. When a team has played better than you, then there is nothing much that you can say.
“I’d rather lose to a team that plays like Celta did today, without any tricks, purely winning through their football. I congratulate them and hope they can carry on playing like that.”
