NEW YORK, Sporting Alert – College basketball scores from the AP 25 on Tuesday night, December 8. No. 6 Maryland, No. 10 Virginia and No. 12 Xavier were all winners.

NO. 6 MARYLAND 76, CONNECTICUT 66

Melo Trimble poured in a season-best 25 points and Diamond Stone supported well off the bench to help No. 6 Maryland hold off Connecticut 76-66 on Tuesday night in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.

It is the third time Trimble was scoring 20-plus this season after scoring 24 points against Georgetown and 23 points versus North Carolina.

Freshman Stone added 16 and nine rebounds, while Robert Carter collected 11 rebounds for the Terrapins (8-1) who build a 20-point lead in the first half.

Daniel Hamilton scored a season-high 23 points for Connecticut (5-3), with Shonn Miller and Sterling Gibbs each scoring 12.

Rodney Purvis ended with 11 points for the Huskies, who have lost three of the last four games after starting the season 4-0.

NO. 10 VIRGINIA 70, NO. 14 WEST VIRGINIA 54

In another matchup on the night in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden, the 10th-ranked Virginia used a big second half to down No. 14 West Virginia 70-54.

Anthony Gill collected season-highs of 20 points on 9-for-11 shooting and 12 rebounds to lead the way for the Cavaliers (8-1), while Malcolm Brogdon added 14 points in the win.

London Perrantes added 13 points and four assists and Darius Thompson ended with 10 points for Virginia, which shot 62.8 percent and won seven in a row.

Jaysean Paige led West Virginia with 16 points on 7-for-11 shooting off the bench.

Devin Williams scored 10 points in the defeat for the Mountaineers (7-1) who were losing for the first time this season.

NO. 12 XAVIER 90, WRIGHT STATE 55

In other AP top 25 college basketball scores, No. 12 Xavier and No. 19 SMU both stayed undefeated this season.

At the Cintas Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, Trevon Bluiett tallied a career-high 22 points and finished with a double-double after pulling down 11 rebounds as well, and Xavier used a big run to cruised to a 90-55 win over Wright State.

J.P. Macura finished with 12 points and Jalen Reynolds added 10 for the Musketeers, who used a 25-point run to pull away and stay undefeated this season and start 9-0 for the first time in seven years.

Michael Karena scored 10 points for the Raiders (3-6) who dropped two in a row and three in the last four.

Meanwhile, at Moody Coliseum in Dallas, Texas, Jordan Tolbert scored 23 points and nine rebounds, and the 19th-ranked SMU stayed undefeated with an 82-58 win over Michigan.

Keith Frazier had 15 points and six rebounds and Nic Moore finished with 15 points and seven assists for the Mustangs (7-0).

Duncan Robinson and Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman each scored 15 points for the Wolverines (6-3), who had won its four-game win streak snapped.
