College Bowl Games Results, Highlights and Scores on Dec. 26

(Sporting Alert) — The following are the scores and results from the college bowl games that took place on Thursday, December 26.

There were two bowl games on the night, but the most shocking result came at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, Calif, where Utah State stunned No. 23 Northern Illinois and Heisman Trophy finalist Jordan Lynch to win the Poinsettia Bowl 21-14.

Leading the way for Utah State was senior running back Joey DeMartino, who had 143 rushing yards, including a 58-yard rush to set a new Poinsettia Bowl record for the longest rushing play.

DeMartino was named the Offensive Most Valuable Player.

In the night’s other game, Pittsburgh picked up a 30-27 surprised win over Bowling Green to lift the Little Caesars Pizza Bowl title.

Bowling Green came in as the favorites, but fell short after Chris Blewitt scored a 39 yard field goal with 1:17 left in the game.
