MIAMI, FL, Sporting Alert – The following are college football games, along with live streaming and television information for Saturday, September 5. Six games are listed on the national schedule for today, with five slated for the ESPN Networks.
Today’s action begins at 1:00 pm ET at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium in Huntington, West Virginia, where Eastern Kentucky will take on Marshall. Redshirt freshman Grant Wells will make his first college start Saturday for Marshall and the quarterback, a long time Thundering Herd football supporter, is looking forward to getting the season started.
“I’m stoked,” Wells, who was an all-state quarterback and punter in high school said. “I’ve been watching Marshall football for as long as I can remember. This certainly means a little bit more that I can finally play on the team, and that I can finally represent Marshall to the entire country.
“That really adds to the excitement of going out and playing and representing Marshall.”
As far as the match-ups, Marshall leads the all-time series against the Colonels 11-8-1. The most recent meeting between the two schools came in 2018 when Marshall won 32-16 in Huntington.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Middle Tennessee will face Army in West Point, live on CBS Sports Networks at 1:30 pm ET, Texas State entertains SMU at the Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos at 4:30, live on ESPN, while Houston Baptist is at North Texas, live on ESPN3 in Denton – kickoff time slated for 7:30 pm.
In other games, Arkansas State is at Memphis at 8:00, live on ESPN at Liberty Bowl Memorial Stadium in and Stephen F. Austin travels to the Sun Bowl in El Paso, to battle with UTEP. Game time for this one is 9:00 and it is streamig live on ESPN3
