Donovan returned the USA setup with a bang – scoring twice in his country’s 6-0 win over Guatemala last Friday night in a friendly international match and the attacker is expected to deliver another solid outing in his second game back.

After leaving him out for last few World Cup qualifiers U.S. Coach Jurgen Klinsmann is delighted with his former captain’s return to form.

“We’re happy that Landon picked up his rhythm and is part of the group again,” Klinsmann said.

“Goals certainly help. For any offensive player, that’s the best recipe.”

Belize, in the meantime, are making their CONCACAF Gold Cup debut, but they are not prepared to be just a numbered team at the tournament.

Head coach Ian Mork says he’s delighted to be playing at this year’s edition, adding that he’s looking forward to continuing to learn about the game, as he looks to develop his very own style of coaching.

“I’m continuing my education in many ways with an opportunity like this and I’m trying to improve my own coaching philosophy and style all the time,” Mork said.

“But more importantly than that is for the team. It’s a big step, a bigger stage for us. Obviously we’re playing one of the top teams in the world.

“We’re kind of looking at it as we’re all going to be improving after this experience no matter what happens.”
