Landon Donovan starts: USA v Belize Teams

PORTLAND, Oregon (Sporting Alert) — Landon Donovan starts for the U.S. in tonight’s Group C CONCACAF Gold Cup clash with Belize in their opening game at Jeld -Wen Field in Portland.

Donovan scored twice in USA’s 6-0 victory in a friendly game, returning from a break from international football and he will play as a second striker alongside Chris Wondolowski in the attack.

DaMarcus Beasley will captain the team and he plays in defense with Clarence Goodson, Michael Parkhurst and Michael Orozco, with Oguchi Onyewu amongst the defenders on the bench.

Starting tonight also for Jurgen Klinsmann side are Kyle Beckerman, José Torres and Nick Rimando, who starts in goal with Tim Howard and Brad Guzan both unavailable.

Stuart Holden and Herculez Gomez are on the bench.

For Belize, striker Deon McCauley, who has the most goals in this CONCACAF World Cup qualifying cycle with 11, will be main man to watch out for.
