TALLAHASSEE Sporting Alert – Dalvin Cook rushed for 266 yards and three touchdowns and No. 11 Florida State used a strong second half to see off South Florida in a 34-14 victory in college football action on Saturday.
Cook, who rushed 30 times, including a 74-yard touchdown in the first half, impressed again, following his two scoring performance in last week’s victory over Texas State.
Everett Golson was 14 of 26 for 163 yards and threw one touchdown pass to Jesus Wilson for 23 yds in the third quarter for the Seminoles (2-0), who tallied 441 total yards, including 278 yards rushing in the Week 2 contest.
Jesus Wilson took three catches for 54 yards and a touchdown and Travis Rudolph caught six passes for 55 yards for the 11th ranked Florida State in the early kick-off.
Meanwhile, D’Ernest Johnson took five catches for 89 yards and two scores in the defeat for South Florida (1-1).
Quinton Flowers finished with 12 of 24 in passes for 125 yards and two 2 TDs and one interception for the Bulls.
Marlon Mack rushed 18 times for 83 yards for South Florida which could only tally 274 total yards in Week 2, after starting the new season with 556 total yards against Florida A&M last week.
Florida State and South Florida went into the halftime break locked at 7-7, but the hosts came out in the second half and scored 27 points, with Cook being of the main contributors with two touchdowns.
