LONDON, Sporting Alert – The English Premier League will resume this weekend after the international.
Clash To Watch: Week 9 fixtures will kick-off at White Hart Lane where Tottenham Hotspur entertaining Liverpool at 6:45 CT.
This matchup will see the newly appointed Jurgen Klopp making his debut as the manager of Liverpool after replacing Brendan Rodgers, who was fired prior to the international break.
The Reds are hoping that the former Borussia Dortmund boss Klopp, will revive the club after falling behind the pack somewhat.
Liverpool are currently sitting 10th in the Premier league table standings with 12 points after eight games and will need to start winning more if they want to finish in the top four at the end of the season.
Tottenham head into the battle one-point ahead of Liverpool, but have won three of its last four games, including a 4-1 win over Manchester City in Week 7.
Need To Improve: Chelsea, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Newcastle United must start finding ways to win games.
Defending champions Chelsea are lagging at the wrong end of the table standings, but manager Jose Mourinho has promised that his team will start improving on the pitch.
The Blues are 16th in the EPL standings with eight points, after suffering three defeats in the last five games, while picking up seven points from a possible 18 during that stretch.
On Saturday, Mourinho will be hoping that the international break will give his under performing stars the just the lift they needed to raise their performance in the league.
Chelsea will take on fellow strugglers and relegation battlers Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, and both teams must go for three points, rather than trying not to lose.
Two other relegation threatened sides Newcastle and Sunderland are also in desperate need of points in Week 9.
Sunderland will travel to The Hawthorns to battle with West Bromwich, while Newcastle United are entertaining Norwich City on Sunday.
In other games, Manchester United will be hoping to bounce back from the 3-0 defeat to Arsenal against Everton at Goodison Park, while leaders Manchester City tackle new boys Bournemouth.
Watford will entertain Arsenal at Vicarage Road.
