EPL Transfer News: Arsenal Want Pato, Bid Rejected - Reports 1
But if reports coming out of Brazil are indeed correct, the English Premier League leaders have some work to do, after their bid for the former AC Milan forward was rejected.
According to Brazilian newspaper Lance! Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had a £6.5 million bid rejected by Corinthians for Pato, who moved back home from Serie A side AC Milan on a £12 million transfer in January.
Arsenal are currently leading the EPL, but Wenger is still looking to add another much needed frontman to his squad as he look to ease some of the pressure off current lone-man Olivier Giroud, who at times complained of being tired.
Wenger does have another target man in Nicklas Bendtner, but it is understood that the manager is currently looking to offload the Denmark international in January so he will certainly need a replacement.
It is also believed that Corinthians are open to selling Pato, but will hold out for a higher bid when the transfer market gets underway again.
Pato has only netted 10 goals in 25 league starts for Corinthians, but is still eyeing a place in Brazil’s World Cup team and he thinks a move back to Europe could help his push for a place in Luiz Felipe Scolari setup.
