CHASING HOME RECORD
In Johnson City, Tennessee, Southern Conference leader East Tennessee State women’s volleyball team will play host to Furman inside Brooks Gym.
The Buccaneers (18-7, 10-3 SoCon) head into this live ESPN3 schedule on very good form, having won nine of their last 10 games and are undefeated at home in conference play.
In fact, ETSU has a perfect record of 10-0 at home overall this term and another victory on Tuesday night would see them setting a new school record for the most home wins in a season and become the first volley team in program history to complete an undefeated home schedule.
East Tennessee State, according to the team’s website, currently ties the program home winning record that was set in 2012.
FURMAN TO DO IT AGAIN?
Despite the good run this season, Tuesday’s game isn’t expected to be an easy one for ETSU, which fell 3-2 to Furman in one of the three Southern Conference losses this term.
In the game on Sept. 23, the Paladins won the five-set thriller, 25-27, 25-18, 17-25, 30-28, 15-11, at home.
With some much at stake on the personal side, ETSU will certainly want to avenge that defeat and protect its home court for the final time this season.
Furman has an overall season record of 10-16 and is 6-8 in conference play.
The Paladins have dropped four of its last five matches, but are coming off a 3-1 victory over Samford on Saturday.
They will finish the regular season fixture at Chattanooga on Friday.
Tuesday’s ESPN3 schedule also sees Indiana Wesleyan playing host to Cornerstone (Mich.) in a NAIA fixture at Luckey Arena at 7pm.
The No. 9 Wildcats are 1-1 on the season after bouncing back from a 73-61 defeat to IU East with a 63-39 win on the road at IU South Bend, with Haley Woodruff and Kelsey Key each collecting double-doubles.
The Golden Eagle are also 2-1 this early season, and are coming off a 79-52 victory over Robert Morris University in the final game of the Tip-Off Classic.
Cornerstone suffered a 58-43 loss at No. 12 Purdue Northwest in the first game in the road Classic.
