MUNICH (Sporting Alert) — Cristiano Ronaldo and Portugal have been drawn against Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s Sweden in the European World Cup qualifying playoffs released on Monday.
Many had hoped that Portugal would have drawn alongside France is what would have been a massive playoff tie, but that didn’t materialized.
At the same time, however, facing Sweden will not be an easy task for Portugal, who host the opening leg of the tie on November 15.
Also in the draw, Ukraine will take on France, Greece and Romania have been drawn together, while Iceland will meet Croatia.
The second leg of the two legged playoffs will be on November 19.
The winners of the playoffs will book a place to the FIFA World Cup finals which take place in Brazil next summer.
